Cactus

950 Vine St

This review is part of the 10 Days of Carne Asada Article. The Cactus is a small taco stand in Hollywood. The “dining room” consists of 4 picnic tables outside. It is a good spot for late night post-party eating.

Their standard carne asada burrito comes with rice, beans, onions, and cilantro, but I requested no rice and beans so the meat could take center stage. The meat was very finely chopped. I like the meat to be cut small, but I still want something that I can bite into. These dry little chunks could almost pass for ground beef. Whoever cut that steak must have gotten a good workout. The spices on the meat were very minimal, but the natural beefy taste was still good. The house salsa was a very spicy green sauce that matched the meat well, but I wanted a red salsa option. Overall it was a good burrito, but the meat needed to be in bigger chunks with more spices.
